Nutrient Summary

Nutrient summary graphs let you quickly see whether you have met your pet’s nutrient requirements for a recipe or for meals spread throughout the day. You can even include snacks and treats if desired.

Nutrient summaries are expressed as a percentage and are color coded

A green bar means that the requirement has been met. A yellow bar means you are short of the nutrient, while a red bar means that you have surpassed the safe upper limit for that nutrient.

PDD Beta automatically calculates key nutrient ratios and shows you graphically whether you are within the recommended range when formulating diets for your cat or dog. So creating balanced meals is now easy.
 
Nutrient ratios are extremely important for your pet’s health. A complete diet contains all the essential nutrients your dog or cat needs. However, a complete diet doesn’t necessarily mean it’s balanced or healthy.
 
For instance, too much calcium can interfere with zinc absorption and may lead to zinc-responsive dermatosis. Calcium also interferes with magnesium and manganese absorption.
 
Perhaps the most important, and well-known, ratio is the Calcium-Phosphorus ratio. This ratio is particularly important during the growth stage (esp. for large breed puppies). Imbalances in this ratio can lead to disease conditions such as osteochondrosis, hip dysplasia, hypertrophic osteodystrophy, and other skeletal defects.
